Who it is for

This course is ideal for experienced outdoor climbers who are interested in learning to lead single-pitch routes

Students should have completed Intro to Outdoor Rock Climbing: Module 1 and Intro to Outdoor Rock Climbing: Module 2, or have comparable prior experience. This course is not intended for first-time outdoor climbers

As this course is of a focused nature, there is little time dedicated to reviewing basic concepts (e.g., tying of common knots). If you are not confident in your skills, consider first taking our Climbing Basics Refresher course

If you are interested in learning to lead multi-pitch routes, please see our Multi-Pitch Lead Climbing course

The course is best suited for adults and teenagers over 15 years of age

Two half-day private or semi-private lessons (up to 2 students per instructor)

You choose the day and time of each of your lessons - can be during the week, the weekend or on a holiday!

Outdoor Sport Climbing lessons typically take place at the Plato da Lagoa, a beautiful climbing crag located in the neighbourhood of Lagoa and offering sport routes from beginner to advanced levels. Alternative location options include the crags in Urca, such as Pedra do Urubu and Grauzinho. Your instructor will select the route for each of your lessons, taking into consideration the lesson content, your interests, your skill level and the day's climbing conditions
